About the exam

What the AAMC PREview exam actually is

The AAMC PREview Professional Readiness Exam is a situational judgment test. Instead of testing science, it gives you realistic situations from medical school and clinical settings and asks you to judge how effective different responses would be. It measures nine professional competencies that medical schools weigh alongside your academic record.

Format

30 scenario sets. For each one, you rate how effective several possible responses are, from very ineffective to very effective. It never asks what you would do.

Length

About 75 minutes of timed scenarios, or roughly 95 to 115 minutes once check-in and wrap-up are included.

Scoring

Schools receive your result on a 1 to 9 scale. Each individual response is rated on a 1 to 4 effectiveness scale.

In admissions

One part of holistic review, considered next to your MCAT score, GPA, experiences, and personal statement.

Student network

For the pre-meds already juggling the MCAT, Casper, secondaries, and PREview.

Practice that tells you the truth.

You get 10 full-length practice exams, and every one was scored by a panel of 10 trained judges, the same rater-based method the AAMC uses. So your practice score tracks closely to what you'll actually earn on test day, instead of a number a generic quiz app invented.

Each exam comes with analytics that show exactly why you missed: did you rate a response too high, too low, escalate too fast, or miss what the scenario was really testing? It all lives in the dedicated PREview practice app at preview.premierexamprep.com.

Pricing

A coach for the misses you can't explain.

On PREview, you usually don't miss because you didn't know something. You miss on judgment. A high-scoring coach helps you name the duty being tested, weigh the responses side by side, and see why the strongest one protects trust, teamwork, or accountability better.

That's why PREview coaching looks nothing like MCAT score-tier tutoring. What matters here is scenario debriefing, honest feedback, and admissions context.

What you get when you prep with us

Focused scenario training, a rating scale you can trust, and a calmer application plan.

Judgment You Can Repeat

You'll learn to tell a merely okay response from the strongest one, every time. That consistency is the whole game on PREview.

High-Scoring Coaches

Our PREview coaches are chosen for judgment, teaching, and admissions know-how, not for a high test score.

A Real Practice Platform

Timed drills, competency sets, and missed-pattern analytics, all waiting for you in the dedicated PREview practice app.

Prep That Fits Your Application

We keep PREview in proportion with your MCAT timing, Casper, secondaries, school list, and interviews.

Student reviewing a practice test

Know why you missed, not just that you did.

"This answer is very effective" tells you nothing. You need the pattern behind the miss: a stakeholder you ignored, accountability you skipped, an escalation you rushed, or an answer that was fine but not the best one on the page.

The practice platform runs on that loop: scenario, rating, review, pattern, and then a sharper next set.

Practice loop

Same rhythm as great MCAT prep, a completely different method.

Instead of content review, you build judgment: timed scenario sets, calibration, and missed-duty review.

Competency drills

Start with short sets grouped by skill, so you can lock in one type of judgment call before mixing them together.

Timed mixed blocks

Move into exam-like blocks where similar duties keep coming back and your rating scale has to stay steady.

Calibration analytics

See whether you missed by overrating, underrating, settling for a merely okay action, or missing the main duty.

Tutor debrief

Bring the summary to coaching so your sessions fix reasoning patterns instead of rereading every prompt.

Tutoring

Coaches organized by skill, not score tier.

PREview doesn't need 510, 515, and 520 tutor tiers. It needs coaches who can teach you to read a professional scenario, judge each response, and keep that judgment steady prompt after prompt.

You'll find PREview coaches and availability right here, and the same Premier PREview Prep login carries across every exam you prep for.
