The exam measures nine professional competencies in two skill areas. You do not need to label them while rating, but they are the lenses for naming the duty on the line, and they are the backbone of review.
| Competency | In one line | Effective looks like | Signature trap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Commitment to Learning and Growth | improve and act on feedback | accepts feedback, reflects, changes | rating polished defensiveness as mature |
| Reliability and Dependability | follow through and own it | does what they said, communicates early, owns slips | rewarding offloaded responsibility as delegation |
| Resilience and Adaptability | persevere and adjust | stays functional, adapts the plan, recovers | praising rigid “stick to the plan” as persistence |
| Ethical Responsibility to Self and Others | honesty and integrity | tells the truth, refuses to cut corners, addresses wrongdoing | treating “stay out of it” as neutral |
| Competency | In one line | Effective looks like | Signature trap |
|---|---|---|---|
| Teamwork and Collaboration | shared goals first | shares, helps, resolves conflict, gives credit | rewarding a solo win that hurts the team |
| Interpersonal Skills | read cues, communicate well | listens, reads the room, stays calm and clear | decisiveness that skips the conversation |
| Empathy and Compassion | notice and respond to distress | acknowledges feelings and helps | rating correct-but-cold at the top |
| Self-Awareness | know your own lens | catches own bias, questions snap judgments | confident assumption mistaken for accuracy |
| Understanding Others | context shapes behavior | seeks the reason, asks rather than assumes | judging behavior without its context |
After any miss: which of these nine did I fail to protect, and which response protected it best?
